This position is also being advertised under vacancy announcement MT MERIT-2019-0166. Only one person will be selected from these announcements. The incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following:
Serving as the primary point of contact for individuals entering the main front entrance of the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument Interpretive Center. Following established office security procedures by checking in visitors; verifying identity through appropriate picture identification card; completing daily visitor log; issuing appropriate building access badge; directing to appropriate office location and employee. Responding to requests in person and over the phone from the public for general BLM information and assistance. Serving as the Mail and File Clerk. Completing routine requests and tasks such as receiving and routing incoming mail and preparing all outgoing mail for proper coding, transmittal of records to Federal Records Center, forms, and routine documents as well as other clerical duties. Preparing documents, letters, memoranda, and reports in final form utilizing automated equipment (hardware/software), data systems, and applications to accomplish the duties of this position. Processing purchases of publications, administrative services, and resource transaction sales to the public. Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The work is typically sedentary. Some work may require periods of walking, standing, bending, or driving a motor vehicle. May frequently lift relatively light boxes, materials, and supplies and/or carry file folders, copied materials, books, and other similar materials. Work is typically located in an adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated office environment. Selective Placement Factor:
This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. Those who do not possess the following selective factor will be rated not qualified:
- Ability to type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or less errors. In addition to the Selective Placement Factor, we must be able to determine from your resume that you meet the General Experience requirements that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. For GS-04:
One year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work experience that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position. - OR - Two years of education above high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable. Equivalent combinations of post-high school education and general experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. IN DESCRIBING YOUR EXPERIENCE, PLEASE BE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
